On Thursday I’m off to London to meet up with Kalypso Media. They’ll be showing off their new game Omerta: City of Gangsters, and then I believe I’ll be getting a chance to play it myself. It’s what I guess you would call a gangster simulator, set in 1920s Atlantic City, so you know it’ll be all about that illegal booze. I’m a big fan of this period, and since Boardwalk Empire is a fair way into its new season, I am definitely up for more mobster fun.
You’ll be managing businesses, muscling rivals out of territory and getting up to no good over the city. There’s also some XCOM style combat in there where you’ll be moving your goons around into cover and trying to take out your enemies. It definitely looks like it’s got some potential. Anyone else a fan of this time period or this style of game? If so are there any questions you’d like me to ask the developers?
Sounds fantastic. Will it be multiplatform? Will be interesting to see how much is macro-based, strategy game style, compared with combat and street-level gameplay.
PC and 360 I believe
